Families of victims killed in the Pahalgam terror attack have expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Army and security forces after the successful conclusion of Operation Mahadev, in which three terrorists responsible for the brutal killings were eliminated.

Syeed Sabzar Shah, cousin of slain local hero Adil Hussain, lauded the Indian Army for avenging the attack and recalled Hussain’s bravery. “We are proud of our brother. He stood firm till the end to protect tourists, showing true humanity beyond religion or caste. He could have fled, but he chose courage,” Sabzar told ANI.

Thanking the security forces, he added, “The Indian Army made sure the terrorists were brought to justice. They did not retreat until they completed their mission.”

Shabari Guha, wife of victim Sameer Guha, also welcomed the operation’s success. “No act can undo our pain, but the Army, CRPF, and J&K Police have given us a sense of justice. I thank them all,” she said.

Operation Mahadev, carried out in the Lidwas area near Harwan in Srinagar, involved a joint effort by the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police, according to the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps. The operation successfully neutralised three terrorists linked to the April 22 attack in Pahalgam.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday during the discussion on Operation Sindoor, confirmed the successful outcome of Operation Mahadev. “The terrorists who killed innocent civilians in the name of religion in Pahalgam have been eliminated. I condemn this barbaric act and express my deepest sympathies to the victims’ families,” Shah said.

BJP leader Shagun Parihar also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the security forces for the success of the operation. “The terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack were punished. PM Modi has also exposed the opposition’s double standards—Congress speaks the language of Pakistan, and the people of the country feel ashamed,” she said.

The coordinated strike marks a significant moment in India’s ongoing counterterrorism efforts and has been seen by the victims’ families and the nation at large as a strong and reassuring message: India will not rest until justice is delivered.
